Effective for the year 2012, the Salary Survey will not be done. The board is looking into new ideas for the survey for the years 2013 and forward. Please contact the ALA Board directly with your with your questions or input.

The 2011 Survey is available for download by clicking the link below. You will receive a unique link immediately by email which gives you secure access. You must have paid for the survey in order to receive the report link.

Keep the email for future access to the report. It's available the entire year. If your unique link can't later be located, simply come to this page and request a new one.

This is the ALA Salary survey website for 2011. Everything about the survey is on this site so please check back when you have questions. To help you remember the site's address you can use any of these three web addresses:
The 2011 survey is now open. The process is very similar to recent past years. The instructions and access to the survey questionnaire is as follows:
  • You will be notified by email from the San Diego Chapter announcing the survey.
  • If you are reading this, you most likely have received the notification or invitation.
  • The firm administrator will be "invited" to participate in the survey with an email invitation, separate from the announcement. This will come from Jim Colville, the survey vendor.
  • Follow the instructions in the email and complete the salary questionnaire. Read below for more details.
  • Keep all invitation and instruction emails as they contain specific instructions and your unique link to the secure questionnaire.
  • To receive the survey report, submit the appropriate fee. Click the payment link on this page. When the report is published you will receive an email with your unique secure link to the online PDF report.
The survey questionnaire is in the following format:
  • The salary (dollar amounts) will be submitted directly into the survey online database via the webe with a custom online tool. This tool can be accessed from the link below. You have the option of alternatively entering the salaries in an Excel file and submitting that file. See the link below. This Excel file can also be your tool to assist in gathering the salary amounts. If using the Excel tool you may be contacted for certain clarification. Not responding to these inquiries could result in your data be excluded.
  • You can re-enter the online tool as many times as needed to make needed updates or revisions.
  • Important note. When entering the salaries online, if you can see your entry on the screen, it has be submitted. No further action is required on your part.
  • Enter the salary information as of July 1, 2011

How to Participate
It's free to participate in the survey however, the survey fee must be paid in order to obtain access to the final survey report. There are price differences between participating and non-participating firms.

Salary Questionnaire
To access the salary online tool, click the link. Upon clicking the link, you will asked to enter your email address. This will be electronically verified and you will receive an email with your unique link to gain access to the salary section of the survey. This is your only access, so keep the email easily accessable. You may enter the survey and view or edit as often as needed.

Alternate Method for Salaries Alternatively you may download the Excel Salary Questionnaire File and submit it. The online tool is very intuitive and easy to use. When downloading, if given the choice Download / Save it to your computer. Opening it online causes too many issues.
