Training
Training is provided as requested. The difference between training and seminar and speaking engagements is that the materials are in-depth, step-by-step with reference and other handout materials provided. This is the optimal learning environment. Recent topics are Revenue Recognition, Business Entity Taxation, Financial Statement Presentation, Fraud and various Excel Topics. This training is typically provided to CPA firms of all sizes and to accounting departments and professionals within companies.
Teaching
Jim Colville designed and implemented the course "Taxation of the Business Entity" at UCSD Extension. This course has evolved into one of department's most successful and popular classes. The course was designed for business professionals, continuing education for CPAs and those students who desire to learn business taxation or sit for the CPA exam. The course qualifies for accounting hours needed to sit for the CPA exam with the State Board of Accountancy. The course content has been adapted for seminar and CPE eduation for CPA firms.
