Jim Colville, CPA helps business owners maximize their business potential and reduce their tax liability.  I help business owners maximize their business potential by working with them on a regular basis to help formulate business strategies to accomplish financial objectives. I then help in implementing the strategies and measurement systems to monitor and achieve results.

My services provide up-to-date tax return preparation and planning services for proprietorships (Schedule C), partnerships,  limited liability companies (LLCs), limited liability partnerships (LLPs), C corporations, and S corporations. I also deal with special tax issues including consolidated returns, controlled groups,  methods of accounting,  and tax-deferred section 1031 exchanges, and other specialized or unique situations.

I represent businesses when being audited by the IRS or FTB. My services in recent audits allowed the business management team to carry on with their duties leaving the contact with the IRS up to me. These audits all resulted in either no change or one change on a grey area items to use as a closing tool.

As the leading business tax instructor at UCSD Extension, you can be assured that I am current in the tax laws, client needs, and real world issues. I designed and taught the UCSD extension class from 1999 through 2008. I provide tax and accounting education classes directly CPA firms and to other with seminars.
